The Wilder Kaiser ski region includes the main mountain range of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, Austria’s largest ski area. 91 cable cars and state-of-the-art lifts open up 279 kilometers of perfectly groomed wide slopes that invite you to enjoy carving and stop off at over 70 huts. 210 kilometers of slopes have snow making equipment to top up the snow coverage when needed, guaranteeing great skiing conditions.

Night skiing

The largest night skiing area in Tyrol offers perfect piste conditions, with a total of 10 km of floodlit slopes leading down into the valley. Austria’s longest night piste promises fun on the slopes until late in the evening, as the valley run is illuminated until 10:15 p.m. The pistes are freshly groomed after the days skiing and it is a special feeling to be able to make your turns on fresh slopes at night, in seclusion.

Ski tourers enjoy the freedom of the mountains on individual tours finding your own route. Or enjoy the experienced accompaniment by a certified and experienced ski touring guide. If you would rather explore the 279 km of slopes and enjoy some powder skiing, you can get a certified ski guide. Their local knowledge will show you show the best places to ski and refreshment stops.

Fun parks Wilder Kaiser

Freestylers also get their money’s worth in the Wilder Kaiser ski region. Whether on two boards or one, you can get your kicks in the three fun parks of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, including a slope style run with kickers, rails and boxes. In these fun parks, freeriders from beginners to professionals can experience plenty of action-packed fun.

Tobogganing

With its natural and well maintained toboggan runs, the Wilder Kaiser region has long been known as “the place for tobogganing”. A total of 16 kilometers, some of which can have snow making facilities, are spread over five toboggan runs. Whether you want to get going at full speed, or enjoy a fun day out with the family, the 4.5 km long Astberg toboggan run in Going is the perfect choice. One descent ends in Ellmau and the other in Going.

Night tobogganing

In Ellmau, Going and Söll, tobogganing fun awaits you not only during the day, but also in the evening. There are four toboggan runs available, which are perfectly groomed and illuminated. Night tobogganing is the perfect activity for all winter lovers who want to enjoy the sunshine during the day while skiing in the SkiWelt and are still looking for fun and action in the evening. It is an amazing experience for the whole family.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

70km of cross country trails

The gently rolling landscape at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser is perfect for cross-country skiing. Beginners and experts alike can enjoy the perfectly groomed cross country ski trails on the sunny plains in between the four villages of Going, Ellmau, Scheffau and Söll. The Wilder Kaiser region has 70 kilometers of well maintained and signed trails.

The best way to experience it is with a snowshoe hike. With snow shoes, you can effortlessly walk through deep snow.The idyllic, snow-covered landscape allows you to enjoy a beautiful hike through the dreamlike winter wonderland.

On the outskirts of Going, near the fire station and embedded in the forest, is the ice skating rink. It is the perfect destination for the whole family. Skates are available for rent.
Curling is also possible.

Ellmauer Ski Show

The spectacle opens with a flag parade by the ski instructors. Then it continues with the a ski show from the Ellmau ski schools, who demonstrate their skills with synchronized and nostalgic skiing. The event concludes with a “Pistenbully Parade” coming down in formation. If you want to combine the Ellmauer ski night with a torchlight hike – Meet at 7:45 p.m. by the tourist information office in Ellmau and off you go! Entry is free.
